Rob at Conservation Matters was briefed to design an infographic sign for Glen Alice near the Capertee Valley. The area is well known for the rare Regent Honeyeater and the sign's raison d'etre is to promote awareness of this majestic bird and provide information about the local history, community and environment.
Pictured with the sign is Dr Kimberly Maute, Principal Ecologist, Ecosystems and Threatened Species, Department of Planning and Environment and Glen Alice Community representative Bruce Richardson.
NPWS Astills Picnic Area Sign
NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service recently upgraded their Atsills Picnic Area Site at Werakata National Park. I was asked to create new interpretive signage to exhibit the history and natural environment for this area of threatened Kurri Sand Swamp Woodland. The park also lies within the Hunter Valley Important Bird Area.
Birding Guide to the Cessnock Woodlands
The Cessnock Woodlands are recognised internationally as a Key Biodiversity Area (KBA) primarily because they provide vital refuge habitat for birds including the critically endangered Regent Honeyeater and Swift Parrot.
This birding guide designed by Conservation Matters features a checklist of over 240 bird species, a map of the region and site list providing both GPS co-ordinates and a QR code linking the listed sites direct to google maps.

The sign combines illustrations, a site map, features of the gardens and information on volunteering.
The Gardens are well worth a visit if you're in the Region.
Birding Guide to the Cessnock Woodlands Signs
The first batch of signs have now been installed around the Cesnock Woodlands.
The design by Conservation Matters is based on our Guide above and produced by Armsign.
The signs complement the Guide and give an insight into the local cultural and social history as well as bird life and flora and fauna of the area. Each sign has a QR code that links to the online Guide via the Hunter Bird Observers Club website.

NEWS: The Economics of Biodiversity: The Dasgupta Review
The long-awaited review by Prof Sir Partha Dasgupta, of the University of Cambridge, has called for transformational change in our economic approach to nature. It says prosperity has come at a "devastating" cost to the natural world and proposes recognising nature as an asset and reconsidering our measures of economic prosperity.
The review was commissioned by the UK Treasury but will be of interest to those with a passion for nature and the Environment.
